JUCO safety commits
AUBURN | The Tigers' search for additional options at safety took an interesting turn Wednesday when Derrick Moncrief from Mississippi Gulf Coast Community College offered a verbal commitment to coach Gus Malzahn.
The 6-foot-4, 220-pound safety is the sixth Class of 2014 player to announce plans to sign with the Tigers.
Moncrief was a top performer at Prattville High from 2010-12, but ended his prep career as a three-star prospect because of academic concerns. He started every game as a freshman at MGCCC, finishing with 46 tackles and three interceptions.
