March 13, 2012February marked the official end for the 2012 recruiting class, and recruiting junkies are already very familiar with the class of 2013. However, it's time to meet even more of the future as Orangebloods.com debuts the Lone Star Recruiting top 100 for the class of 2014, and folks, it's a good one.
Headlining the list is all-everything play-making machine Hoza Scott. The LaPorte linebacker enjoyed a sophomore campaign that resulted in all sorts of recognition, and he's followed in the rankings by two elite defensive backs. Lancaster's Nick Harvey and Brenham's Darrion Johnson are the cream of a crop of defensive backs which is extremely deep. Ed Paris of Mansfield Timberview, Cedric Collins of Dallas Skyline, Tony Brown of Beaumont Ozen, Chris Hardeman of Alief Taylor and Nick Watkins of Dallas Bishop Dunne join the duo of Harvey and Johnson to make up seven of the top 25 overall.
Dual-threat quarterback and Texas commitment Tyrone Swoopes tops the 2013 LSR, and you don't have to look far down the 2014 list to find a super athletic, 6-4 dual-threat quarterback in Fort Bend Bush's Ronald Monroe, who is also a standout on the basketball team as well. Not far behind Monroe is Denton Guyer signal caller Jerrod Heard, and he amassed over 2,800 total yards along with 33 total touchdowns as a sophomore.
Weakside defensive end Derick Roberson, an explosive pass-rushing force off the edge, and Coppell's Solomon Thomas, a strongside player, make up the top defensive ends. Central Texas products Varshaun Nixon (Lake Travis) and Samaje Perine (Pflugerville Hendrickson) are the first two running backs on the list.
