Keenan set to arrive in Lubbock on Friday

Argyle (Texas) offensive tackle Trey Keenan will be in Lubbock this weekend for Texas Tech's spring game, and a first-hand experience of what it's like to be a Red Raider is awaits.

"I'm really looking forward to this trip because I think it will really allow me to put myself into the position of being a Texas Tech offensive lineman," Keenan said. "I've been talking with Coach Sonny Cumbie and they're going to have me set up with one of their current o-lineman on Friday. I'll be hanging with him all day, from the morning workouts to the end of the day. It should give me a great opportunity to find out what it's like to be a Red Raider all the way up until kickoff on Saturday."

Keenan will be making the trip with his father, who has accompanied him to Lubbock twice before.

"I'm still planning on coming a day early and I'll be with my father," he said. "I have a track meet Thursday night and I'll be leaving for Tech after I'm done. I always like to get my dad's perspective on things so he makes most of the trips with me."

The 6-foot-5, 270-pounder has seen his recruitment heat up in Big 10 country lately, but any visits will likely be held off until the weather follows suit.

"I'm hoping to get up there to check out Michigan in the next couple of months," he said. "It's still pretty frozen up there right now, so we're going to try and wait a little for it to heat up again. The weather doesn't really have an effect on my overall decision, but I'd like to visit when it's as nice as possible."

Keenan will also be making a trip to Waco next weekend to visit Baylor, but he has yet to schedule any other visits to follow.

"I'm just taking it as it comes right now. There are a few schools I'm really liking and Texas Tech is definitely one of them," Keenan said. "I don't think I'm really getting close to a decision, though. All of the May recruiting is still yet to come and I don't want to limit myself before then. I don't think I'll pull the trigger anytime soon, but I guess you never know."

"I'm just taking it a step at a time for now and the next step is at Texas Tech. I'm excited to spend some more time in Lubbock with the staff and players."

Keenan currently holds offers from Arizona, Arkansas, Baylor, Colorado, Kansas, Kansas State, Michigan, Minnesota, Mississippi State, Purdue, Tennessee, and Texas Tech.
