Florida WR thinking of visit

Florida wide receiver Cameron Posey hadn't heard a lot from Purdue until the last couple months.

But when the Boilers called about two months ago, they had big news for the 6-foot-2, 175-pounder.

"After practice, (a coach) told me that Coach (Gary) Nord from Purdue wanted to talk to me," Posey said. "So I gave him a call and he said that they'd really love to have me at Purdue and I could make an impact on the football team. They offered me a scholarship. That was really one of the first times I even had contact with anyone from there."

But the contact from Purdue, and others, has sustained. Posey has offers from the Boilers, as well as Illinois and Bowling Green. Schools such as Wisconsin, Vanderbilt and South Carolina are expressing interest, he says.

"A lot of schools want me to come by and see their school this summer," he said. "But I probably won't be able to see every school, but we'll see."

A trip north, which could take in the schools that have offered, however, might be in the works. Posey says he'd like to make time to visit Purdue, Illinois and others.

"I want to go see the campus and meet all the players and coaching staff and just see how I'd fit in as a football player," he said. "Hopefully it's just like a big family that I could come into right away and have an impact on."

After starting to hear from the Boilers, Posey says he'd tried to learn more about Purdue. Coaches there have told him about the business program, which is the area he'd like to study.

"I know a little bit, but I'm still trying to learn more," he said. "Hopefully, I'll be able to take a trip up that direction later this summer. That's what we're talking about right now. I'll be able t stop by and see."

Posey, who recently had wrist surgery after fracturing it during the season, caught 16 passes for 266 yards and six touchdowns as a junior.

"I'm a really good route runner, have great hands," he said when asked to describe his strengths. "I have some speed too, but feel like I can get faster and plan on working on that this off-season."
