2013 QB camping at Tech

Now that the 2012 recruiting class is preparing to enter their senior year, coaching staffs across the country are already prepping their recruiting boards and making initial contact with athletes in the 2013 class. One of those recruits is Bryan (Texas) 2013 quarterback Chris Johnson. Johnson is receiving initial feelers from most schools and already holds offers from a few. He's getting to know some coaching staffs and is enjoying the initial phases of the recruiting process.

"It's going very well. Just visiting a few camps right now. I'm getting to know a few coaches, and they're beginning to show a little interest in me. I'm just going out to see what's out there and just looking at a few of the campuses as I go to the camps."

Since many 2013 recruits are just now jumping into the wild river that is recruiting, some of them are attending summer camps to help their stock and get their name into the fray. While Johnson will not be attending one of Tech's camps in Houston this weekend, he will be in Lubbock.

"Actually I'll be at the camp on Thursday in Lubbock."

Tech is holding a one day camp on Thursday, and Johnson will be one of many athletes in attendance.

The Houston area QB currently holds two offers, and is hearing the most from those two schools. Johnson is also starting to hear a lot of chatter from several Big 12 schools

"So far I've got two offers from Baylor and Utah. Those are the two that are recruiting me the most right now," said Johnson. "Also, the University of Texas, Texas A&M, Oklahoma, and Texas Tech are starting to watch me a little more and talk to me a little bit just to get to know a little more about me."

He had this to share about the Bears.

"I think that Baylor is a great academic school. It's good to go to get an education and their football program is steadily increasing. They're making more and more progress each year. I think it'll be a great school."

Despite holding an offer from Utah, the Bryan quarterback doesn't know a whole lot about the Utes.

"I really haven't talked too much to them, so I'm not really sure. All I know so far is that they're in a good conference in the PAC-12."

Finally, when asked what he thought about the Red Raiders, Johnson had this to share.

"I think it's a great school and their football program is good. I'm pretty interested in them. They've been showing interest in me, so it's a good possibility to be at Texas Tech, too."

Johnson currently has no leaders and holds offers from Baylor and Utah.
