Spartan target ready for test

Earlier this week it was reported by Rivals.com recruiting analyst Josh Helmholdt that Michigan State had offered prospect Tim Cason of Clarkston High School. The 6-foot-0, 180-pound prospect will get a chance to showcase his skills this weekend as the undefeated Wolves (10-0) take on Grand Blanc High School in the 2nd round of the playoffs.

Cason’s scholarship from Michigan State came on the heels of being offered by MAC teams Toledo and Bowling Green. The Spartans have been a favorite of his since childhood and the offer carries significant weight. Cason told SpartanMag.com the following:

“Michigan State is a great school,” Cason said. “They a great coaching staff and they also they have the perfect academic course for me (Engineering). I was really surprised but at the same time excited about being offered.”

Cason informed us that he will be in East Lansing this weekend to see the Spartans take on the Nebraska Cornhuskers. He is looking forward to sitting down and talking with Head Coach Mark Dantonio while of campus.

There is an excellent chance that the Michigan State staff will be in Clarkston on Friday night to see Cason in action and he will have a great opportunity to showcase his skills. The Grand Blanc Bobcats feature a prolific passing offense that will certainly look test Cason and the rest of the Clarkston secondary. Grand Blanc features 6-foot-5, 195-pound quarterback Bart Williams who is getting serious Division 1 attention in his own right.

The Grand Blanc signal-caller has completed 208 of 361 passes for 2807-yards and 34 touchdowns this fall. He already has an offer from Grand Valley State University and will be visiting Central Michigan this weekend.

Cason informed us that he did not attend camp this summer at Michigan State. That means his scholarship offer is based on his performance in games this fall. This weekend’s contest he will be able to show why he will likely be one of the top rated recruits in the state for the class of 2014. SpartanMag.com will be sure to report not only on the outcome for Friday night’s playoff showdown, but also how Cason’s visit to Michigan State goes on Saturday.
