Leonard is Serious About Following Teamates




Head coach Bob Stoops and the Sooners made quite the splash recently with prospects at Lancaster, Texas signing cornerback Dakota Austin, while also picking up their second commitment in the 2014 class in safety prospect Vontre McQuinnie. Oklahoma had success before their recent success with the Lancaster program and has now appeared to open up a strong pipeline at the talented south Dallas high school.

Derrick Leonard is another 2014 prospect out of Lancaster and is yet another Tiger receiving interest from the Sooners. Back on Feb. 2 Leonard was in Norman along with Austin, McQuinnie and Nick Alexander, who also holds a Sooner offer.

The reported 6-foot and 185-pound prospect weighed in at 206-pounds in Norman and like everyone else, got the tour of the campus and also got to watch a video of the Sooners winning tradition.

"When I got there they introduced us to Bob Stoops and he was talking to us," Leonard said. "And we started walking around the campus, touring the locker room and touring his office. They showed us a video about the tradition they have about the National Championships they have won and the Big 12 Championships they have won.
