Minnesota game visitors

Michigan State will have some important visitors on campus this weekend for the game against the University of Minnesota. One top recruit that will be in East Lansing is 4-star defensive back Kiy Hester of New Jersey. SpartanMag.com has the details on his visit as well as several others.

Class of 2014:

  • DB Kiy Hester of De Paul Catholic High School in Wayne, New Jersey
Hester is a player that Spartan Coach Pat Narduzzi has been recruit for quite a while. Hester camped at Michigan State prior to junior season. Hester made a summer commitment to Rutgers University, but has since backed off that commitment. Hester is ranked a 4-star recruit by rivals.com and the #26 safety in the nation. He holds over 25 BCS scholarship offers.
Hester is a player that wants to have an opportunity to make an early impact in college. He is aware that All-Big Ten Isaiah Lewis is graduating and Kurtis Drummond will be a senior next year. The fact that the Spartans will be in the Big Ten Eastern Division is a positive factor in his recruitment. The Spartans are making recruiting New Jersey a top priority. They already have a commitment from RB Gerald Owens of West Deptford High School and are sitting in good shape with DE Darius Slade of Montclair High School. Adding a player like Hester to the mix would certainly enhance the Spartan class.

    Class of 2015:
  • ATH Caleb Richard of Midland Dow High School in Michigan
Richard is a player that simply makes things happen. At 5-foot-10 185-pounds he is not the biggest player, but he is exceptionally quick. This fall he scored 20 touchdowns for Midland Dow as a running back and wide receivers. Richard projects as a slot-type wide receiver at the next level.

  • ATH Eriq Torrey Dekalb High School in Illinois
Torrey is known more =for his skills as a running back in high school, but his greatest potential is likely as a defensive back. Torrey has excellent ball skills and at 6-foot-0, 185-pound he has the frame to add some additional size. Torrey competes in the 100M and 200M for the Dekalb High track team

    Class of 2016:
WR Kalebb Perry of Mt. Pleasant High School in Michigan
The 6-foot-2, 170-pound wide receiver had an outstanding sophomore campaign for Mt. Pleasant High School. He could be one of the top recruits in the state Michigan in the class of 2016. Perry is very elusive in the open field and has the speed to take it the distance. He also excels in basketball and track.

TE Mike Robb of Midland Dow High School in Michigan
The 6-foot-6, 192-pound Robb currently plays wide receiver for Dow. He has good speed and should continue to fill-out and will likely be in the 225-pound range by the time he heads to college. If Robb's blocking continues to progress, he could be one of top TE prospect in Midwest for 2016.

    Potential visitor:
The Spartans have been in contact with junior college offensive tackle Miguel Machado of Pasadena College in California. The 6-foot-6, 275-pound prospect was offered by Michigan State earlier last week. Machado is a mid-year graduate and he will have 3-years to play 2 seasons. He also holds scholarship offers from Washington State, Louisville, Illinois, Purdue and Marshall. He has taken visits to Marshall and Washington State.
