Stoudermire Granted Medical Hardship Waiver

University of Minnesota cornerback/kick returner Troy Stoudermire has been granted a medical hardship waiver by the Big Ten Conference. Stoudermire's participation in the 2011 season will not count against him. He will have one season of eligibility remaining.

"This is great news for Troy and for our program," head coach Jerry Kill said. "I'm really excited for Troy and glad to have him back with us next season."

"I'm just excited and happy," Stoudermire said. "I've been waiting on this thing for a long time. Now, I'm just looking forward to getting back there for my first workout and getting back with the team."

Stoudermire is the Big Ten and Minnesota school record-holder for kickoff return yards with 3,102. Through four games last season, Stoudermire recorded 24 tackles with three tackles for loss. He also tallied two interceptions and three pass break-ups last season.

Stoudermire moved to cornerback full-time midway through the 2010 season. He finished seventh on the team with 37 stops during 2010, while breaking up six passes, tallying one interception and recording two forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries.
