Arkansas quarterback visits

TWITTER- FACEBOOK-

Greenwood (Ark.) quarterback Jabe Burgess made an unofficial visit to Auburn on Friday after participating in the Rivals Camp Series stop in Dallas, Texas this past Sunday.

"It went great," Jabe Burgess said. "We got to tour the facilities. We got to meet some of the coaches. I was already familiar with Coach Horton and Coach Malzahn. Just got to talk with them a little bit. It was a great time."

Burgess spoke with offensive coordinator Rhett Lashlee as well as Gus Malzahn about the spread-type offense and where they see him fitting in.

"We were just talking about the offense philosophy and what Auburn has to offer me and just kind of where we are moving forward," Burgess said.

"They want to see me throw a couple more times before they commit to me and I commit to them. They are going to come watch me at spring practice and I'm going to try to get out to camp sometime this summer. Just keep building this relationships with these coaches."

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound Burgess started for Greenwood High School his junior season and led them to a 14-0 season throwing for more than 3,000-yards with a 74 percent passing rate. Making a transition from high school to an offense like Auburn would be a smooth transition he said.

"That's what I was talking to Coach Lashlee about that. Something easy for me to just move into this kind of offense. It was basically the same kind of offense he ran in high school that they are running here and that I run in high school so I was really excited to hear about that."

The Arkansas native owns offers from Tulsa and Illinois, but has seen interest levels start to pick-up with other universities as of late. He has met with the Bret Bielema's staff at Arkansas and mentioned that a few other Southeastern Conference schools like Alabama have contacted him. He plans to visit Ole Miss and Oklahoma State this summer.

If all goes as planned, Burgess would like to commit to a school before the beginning of his senior season, but says that he doesn't want to rush anything and will continue to do research on which offense fits him best.
