Carta-Samuels explains his choice
Four-star quarterback K.J. Carta-Samuels has found his home at Washington. He tells TheDawgReport.com why he made the decision he did.
"I loved my visit up there," the California quarterback said this week.
That visit was instrumental in getting Carta-Samuels to the point where he was ready to commit.
"It was just an awesome atmosphere. It was a great connection for me. I just felt like, 'This is the place I can see myself going.' The coaches were awesome. The school is phenomenal. The facilities are as new as possible; newly renovated. They're awesome.
"It was awesome because it seems like an opportunity to play close to home. Being in the Pac-12 I'm obviously going to be playing the teams that are really close to my area, such as Cal, Stanford and USC possibly, depending on the crossover games (with the South). It's just cool to be able to play in the Pac-12 where I've grown up most of my life.
"I would have loved to go to the SEC (at Vanderbilt) to experience something new but I'm happy to stay close to home. It's a great opportunity at the University of Washington and I'm looking forward to it."
Carta-Samuels said he hopes to do a little recruiting on the Huskies' behalf before Signing Day, too.
Chris Petersen and the coaching staff have young options at quarterback but identified Carta-Samuels for his accuracy and decision-making skills. It's believed that he can help Washington develop a strong passing game with the young options at receiver, depending on how the depth chart shakes out behind center.
