Gopher commits and targets earn new ratings and rankings

Rivals.com updated individual recruit ratings and released the 2017 position rankings today. Several Gopher targets and commits climbed in the rankings.

Marshall tackle Blaise Andries Andries is ranked the No. 42 tackle in the country, just narrowly missing four-star status, which in this rankings release starts at No. 38. Andries, widely considered the top commit of the Gophers' 2017 class, chose the Gophers over offers from Arkansas, Florida, Miami (FL), Michigan State, Nebraska, Oklahoma, Oregon, Penn State, TCU, and more.

Cibolo (Texas) Steele defensive tackle Joshua Croslen received a bump to three-star status today, after previously being ranked a 5.4 two-star. Croslen chose Minnesota over offers from Colorado State, Houston, and more a month ago.

Tulsa (Okla.) Union three-star Kyrei Fisher retained his grade of 5.6 and was ranked the No. 43 outside linebacker in the country. Fisher chose Minnesota over offers from Colorado, Kansas, and more in May.

Targets

College Station (Texas) quarterback Ty Brock -- Brock, who does not yet hold an offer from Minnesota, is ranked the No. 16 pro-style quarterback in the country. The Gopher Report spoke to Brock earlier this month ($). Josh Helmholdt also gave an in-depth video analysis of Brock after watching him at a Rivals camp.

Roswell (Ga.) wide receiver Jayden Comma -- Comma retained his 5.7 rating and is now ranked the No. 72 wide receiver nationally. He's named West Virginia as his leader, and also holds power five offers from Illinois, Louisville, Maryland, and Minnesota. Comma spoke to The Gopher Report earlier this month ($). Rivals.com southeast analyst Woody Wommack watched him live recently and uploaded video analysis and an interview.

Roswell (Ga.) running back Sheldon Evans -- Evans, teammate of Jayden Comma, is ranked the No. 37 running back. The Gophers are his only power five offer. Woody Wommack yesterday posted video analysis of Evans after watching him live.

Avon (Ind.) safety Bryant Fitzgerald -- The Indiana commit is ranked the No. 49 safety in the country. Fitzgerald spoke about his continued interest from Minnesota and position versatility in July ($).

College Park (Ga.) Woodward Academy quarterback Ryan Glover -- Glover is now ranked the No. 25 dual-threat quarterback. He committed to Colorado State on July 1, but has heard from Jay Johnson and Minnesota since the commitment. Glover spoke to TGR about his CSU commitment and Gophers interest in July ($).

Peoria (Ill.) lineman Kendrick Green -- Green is now ranked the No. 31 offensive guard in the country, although Jeff Phelps and Minnesota like him as a defensive tackle. Green has a top three of Minnesota, Syracuse, and UCF, which he spoke about with The Gopher Report a month ago ($). Earlier this month, he also recapped his recruitment and recent visits with Edgy Tim ($).

Cedar Hill (Texas) outside linebacker Dimitri Moore -- The 5.7 three-star was ranked the No. 28 outside linebacker today. Moore, an early enrollee, recently took a road trip to visit Missouri, Iowa State, and Minnesota, which he spoke about with The Gopher Report ($), Power Mizzou ($), Cyclone Report ($). Texas Tech is also considered a contender for Moore, and Red Raider Sports ($) had three stories on him in the last month.

Iowa Western C.C. defensive end Andrew Van Ginkel -- The former South Dakota defensive end earned four-star status today. The Gophers offered early and continue to pursue him, although Van Ginkel has named a top three of Iowa, Nebraska, and Wisconsin. He spoke with JCGridiron.com about his recruitment earlier this week ($). TGR also had an insider note on Van Ginkel's top group a month ago ($).

Houston (Texas) Westfield running back Daniel Young -- The 5'10" running back is rated the No. 39 running back. He recently announced a top four of Houston, Boise State, Minnesota, and Nebraska, which he spoke about with Rivals.com. Nebraska is the most recent offer for Young, which he spoke about with Husker Online ($). TGR also recapped his recruitment in July, when he had a top three of Boise State, Houston, and Minnesota ($).
