7'2" Norwegian center Matz Stockman of Louisville will transfer to Minnesota. He will sit out one year then play his final collegiate season with Minnesota.

"Matz has been a great team member with our basketball team and we appreciate his efforts," Louisville coach Rick Pitino. "Transferring to Minnesota is a great move for him, as he'll have an opportunity to make an immediate impact when he becomes eligible to play."

Stockman was a four-star recruit when he signed with Louisville. He averaged just 1.7 points and 1.2 rebounds for Louisville as a junior and played just 74 minutes. However, his efficiency and per-40 minutes stats are good.

Stockman played at the Canarias Basketball Academy in Spain before Louisville. Minnesota's Bakary Konate and Gaston Diedhiou also played for Canarias.

Reggie Lynch, Bakary Konate, and Gaston Diedhiou will graduate after next season, leaving playing time available for Stockman during the 2018-2019 season. The Gophers will also have Jordan Murphy and Eric Curry as big men on the roster for 2018-2019.
