A glance at Minnesota's newest offers

After a quiet month on the recruiting trail, the Minnesota coaching staff was active this week, hosting another camp as well as sending out a handful of new offers to 2023, 2024, and 2025 prospects.

We take a quick look at each of those new offers and each prospect's recruitment to date.

The 2023 outside linebacker from Avon Old Farms in Connecticut picked up his first Big Ten offer and second overall earlier this week when the Gophers extended him an offer. Alliego picked up an offer from Rutgers as well this weekend and is likely to see more come his way in the upcoming weeks and months. Definitely, a name to monitor at linebacker for Minnesota going forward.

A regional prospect to know, Smith received his fourth offer overall and second Big Ten offer from the Gophers. Smith plays both linebacker and tight end for Bloomington South but it sounds like he projects best as a linebacker at the next level.

A tall and lengthy 2024 tight end, Nelson picked up his seventh offer from the Gophers and his third from the Big Ten joining Iowa and Nebraska. Unspursingly, Nebraska is the early favorite to land the Ainsworth (NE). If Nelson is truly a Nebraska lean, it wouldn't be shocking to see this recruitment end sooner than later but until he commits, it will be interesting to see if Minnesota could make a push here and at the least get him on campus this fall.

The Kankakee (IL) running back is quickly amassing an offer list with now 12 total scholarship offers. Minnesota joins Purdue and Syracuse among his Power Five offers. Wright has considerable upside and while he's a big running back at 6-foot-1 and 230-pounds is quite athletic and has a nice burst to his game. I think he's likely near the very top of Minnesota's running backs board but we will receive more clarification of that as we go forward.

Quite the big athlete at 6-foot-5, 255-pounds, Sunram picked up his first offer in the form of Minnesota. Also a standout on the hardwood, Sunram likely projects at the next level to the defensive line but also plays offensive tackle for Kindred. The ultimate question with Sunram is how he continues to grow, if continues, his future is likely at defensive tackle. Highly intriguing prospect.

We interviewed Quinn Morris earlier this week about his offer, Minnesota was his second offer overall, joining the Michigan Wolverines. Notably, Morris's older brother Tyler is currently a member of the Michigan football program. While still extremely early in his recruitment, Michigan is going to be looked at as a favorite to land Morris for quite a while.
