Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck and defensive coordinator Joe Rossi have addressed one of their transfer portal needs on Monday when North Carolina defensive end transfer Chris Collins announced his decision to commit to the Minnesota Football program.
The defensive line transfer announced his decision via Twitter on Monday afternoon after taking an official visit Dinkytown this past weekend. He's the sixth commitment for the Gophers in the last 36 hours.
Collins will come to Minneapolis as a graduate transfer. During his time in Chapel Hill, Collins totaled 69 tackles over five seasons including 6.5 sacks and one forced fumble. This season, he recorded 20 tackles including eight solo.
The 6-foot-4, 245-pound defensive end received an overall defensive grade of 54.5 this year from Pro Football Focus. He totaled nine quarterback pressures on 138 pass rushing attempts which included seven hurries and two hits.
