Guedet pledges to Minnesota

Washington (Ill.) three star ranked junior offensive tackle prospect JJ Guedet (6-foot-8, 255 pounds) made a Saturday Junior Day visit to Minnesota and early this morning announced his verbal commitment to the Gophers. Guedet discusses his pledge to Minnesota here.

"Minnesota is about as close to a perfect fit as possible for me," Guedet said. "I just love the coaches including Coach (PJ) Fleck, Coach Cally (Brian Callahan and Coach (Kenni) Burns and I'm very excited about my decision."

Guedet, who has already made a handful of on campus visits to Minnesota pointed towards his visit on Saturday as being a key in making his decision this morning.

"I felt that after yesterday's visit I was ready to commit to Minnesota. I finally had a chance to really get to talk with a lot of different people. I spent a lot of time with Coach (Brian) Callahan along with some of the other assistant coaches and some of the academics advisors. I just was able to get some answers and I was able to just get a better understanding of how everything works at Minnesota. It's just an mazing place and my family is also 100 percent on board with my decision."

So why commit so early?

"I just honestly see no reason to not commit to Minnesota. I've been able to check out some other schools already and I always found myself comparing them to Minnesota. I just felt like why wait anymore? I know what I want and Minnesota just j\has so much to offer. It's just a great fit for me in so many ways I have no issues with locking up my spot and moving forward with Minnesota."

Guedet is the third known verbal commitment in the Minnesota Class of 2019.
