Owens to Minnesota

Delray Beach (Fla.) Atlantic safety Brandon Owens (6-2, 200) had a visitor from the great state of Minnesota on Wednesday night. The visitor left the Owens household with great news. "Coach Tom Sims made an in-home visit last night, and I committed to Minnesota," Owens told GopherHole.com.
Owens visited Minnesota over Super Bowl weekend and left impressed. "I like Minnesota's program and the big city. I don't think I will get bored at Minnesota," Owens said. "Minnesota felt like home."

Owens originally committed to Iowa State back in November but started to reconsider early last week. "I just liked Minnesota a lot more, and I feel that I will fit in better there," he said.
Owens is currently ranked as a 3-star recruit and the 18th best safety in the nation by Rivals.com. Other recruiting services rate Owens as high as a 5-star recruit and the #1 safety in the nation. Atlantic head coach Keith Tillman knows what Minnesota will be getting. "Brandon is a Miami Hurricane kid, Miami is dropping the ball on this kid, "Tillman told GopherHole.com. "Brandon played against kids who are going to Miami, and he kicked their butt. Brandon already has an NFL body."
Owens has yet to qualify academically, but according to Owens and Tillman, he is on pace. He would like to study architecture at Minnesota.
