Minnesota head coach P.J. Fleck is looking to hire his next defensive coordinator but will now also have to find a new special teams coordinator and rush ends coach.

On Tuesday, Football Scoop's Zach Barnett reported that Minnesota special teams coordinator Rob Wenger is set to leave the Gophers' staff to "pursue other opportunities."

Wenger has been part of the Gophers' staff since 2017 and has spent over 20 years in coaching. He was pivotal in the development of players such as Baye Mafe, Esezi Otomweo, and Jah Joyner among others at the rush end position as well as the development of kicker Emmit Carpenter and Dragan Kesich as the program's special teams coordinator.

Wenger also spent time at Western Michigan with P.J. Fleck as well as with Western Michigan, Allegheny, St. Tohmas Aquinas H.S. in Florida, and Allegheny College in Pennsylvania, as a handful of years at Rutgers.
