University of Minnesota men's basketball head coach Ben Johnson announces the addition of Jaden Henley (Ontario, Calif.) to the program. Henley has signed a National Letter of Intent and is set to join the Golden Gophers this summer.
Henley, a 6-7, 190-pound guard/forward, played at Colony High School and Team Inland in the AAU circuit. Starting his high school career on the PrepHoops sophomore watchlist in 2020, Henley escalated as the No. 3 overall state prospect and No. 2 wing in the 2022 class. Henley aided Colony HS to a 25-3 record this past season and later was named All CIF Southern Division I First Team. In his senior campaign, he averaged 17.2 points, 6.1 rebounds, 2.4 assists and 2.5 steals and led the Titans to a CIF Division I quarterfinals finish. Henley was also named the boys basketball All-Palomares League MVP following his Titans senior season. Named Press-Enterprise's Inland Boys Athlete of the Week once this season, Henley led Colony to a San Gabriel Valley Classic title where he averaged 18.3 ppg over four games and was named the tournament's Most Valuable Player. As a junior, he also helped Colony to a 19-2 record in a shortened COVID-19 season.
"We're really excited about Jaden and think he's got a big future ahead of him," head coach Ben Johnson said. "What stood out to us when we recruited him was his size, length and versatility. He's got a great first step and is a Big Ten, Power Five athlete that will continue to get better. The sky's the limit with Jaden. He can dribble, pass and shoot. Colony's Jerry De Fabiis, Team Inland's Coach Koolaide and his family did an unbelievable job with his growth and development. We are excited about his future here."
Henley joins three incoming freshmen that committed during the fall signing period in Braeden Carrington (Brooklyn Park, Minn.), Joshua Ola-Joseph (Osseo, Minn.) and Pharrel Payne (Cottage Grove, Minn.).
