Jones changes his visits

Atlanta (GA) Douglass outside linebacker Leland Jones (6-foot-2, 215 pounds) has cancelled his official visit to South Carolina and will replace that visit with a trip to Marshall. Jones, though committed to Minnesota, will still visit Clemson (1-9) and Marshall (1-16).
A coaching change at South Carolina was a factor in the change. “The coach who had been recruiting me to South Carolina left and took a job at Arizona,” Jones said. “A wide receiver from my school, Corey Thompson, is going to visit Marshall the same weekend. They asked if I would like to come up with Corey, and I decided to take the trip because I probably won’t have anything better to do.”

Is there any chance Jones could change his mind? “Not yet, I don’t think there will be anything that could cause me to change my mind,” he said. “I am still 100% committed to Minnesota, I just want to go to some other colleges to see what they are like. I consider myself a Golden Gopher.”
Jones was able to catch Minnesota play in the Sun Bowl. “I really liked how they pulled that one out,” he said. “My whole family was watching the game, and everybody in the house was nervous at the end.”
