Gophers Land Grad Transfer Jack Gibbens
On Friday, Minnesota added an incredibly talented linebacker by way of the transfer portal. Abilene Christian transfer Jack Gibbens can play both inside and outside linebacker, and could make some noise early when he gets to Minneapolis in January.
Gibbens has consistently been a terror in the FCS. In only six games this season at Abilene Christian, Gibbens recorded 49 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks.
TGR Publisher Sean Williams has all the details on Gibbens here.
Buckley, Porter Commit Elsewhere
Saturday was decision day for two Gopher targets in the 2021 class.
Wyoming (MI) offensive/defensive lineman Ru'Quan Buckley and Washington (PA) defensive tackle Andre' Porter were both being recruited by Minnesota, but both ultimately pursued other opportunities at Nebraska and Maryland.
The Gophers were recruiting Buckley to play on the offensive line, and with him off the board, all eyes are now on Missoula, Montana OL Dylan Rollins and Suwanee, Georgia OL Amari McNeill.
Current Class Rank Heading Into The Early Signing Period
With the early signing period less than two weeks away, the Minnesota recruiting class currently ranks 37th in the country (29th if you rank in order of average star rating - 3.13), and 10th in the Big Ten.
As it currently sits, the 2021 class consists of 16 players, 14 3-star commits and two 4-star commits.
The world of recruiting always gets crazy around this time of year, so it will be interesting to see if there are any surprises for Minnesota prior the December 16th.
