On Friday evening, Minnesota added the commitment of experienced FCS linebacker Jack Gibbens out of Abilene Christian.

The 6-foot-4, 240-pound talent tallied 49 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, and two sacks in just six games this season. As a junior in 2019, Gibbens appeared in all 12 games for Abiline Christian, recording 104 tackles with 8.5 tackles for loss, including eight pass defended.

In 2018, he totaled 78 tackles, 9.5 tackles for loss, 2.5 sacks, and six pass deflections. During the 2017 season, his freshman year, he appeared in 10 games and recorded 27 tackles and an interception.

Over the summer, Gibbens told NFLDraftDiamonds.com that he primarily plays WILL linebacker in a 4-3 scheme for the Wildcats and has also played the MIKE and SAM positions as well.

He's been a team captain for Abilene Christian the past three seasons. He also double-majored in accounting and finance.

With the NCAA granting an extra year of eligibility, Gibbens will be a graduate transfer that will enroll at Minnesota in January.
