A pair of Minnesota Golden Gophers football players have entered the transfer portal. Running back Treyson Potts and wide receiver Michael Brown-Stevens entered their name on Monday as the transfer portal opened up back up for players.
Potts leaves Minneapolis after four years on campus and is coming off his first full season with the program, playing in 12 games and totaling 101 carries for 471 yards and three touchdowns.
The Pennsylvania native's career has been marred by injuries including a serious injury in the 2021 season that kept him to just five games. Potts also missed parts of his junior and senior years of high school with injuries.
With Potts's departure, the Gophers still have Bryce Williams, Jordan Nubin, and Zach Evans, as well as incoming additions in Sean Tyler, a Western Michigan transfer as well as true freshman Darius Taylor and Marquese Williams.
Brown-Stephens leaves the program after four years with the Gophers and will have two years of eligibility remaining at his next school. He totaled 22 receptions for 338 yards for the Gophers in 2022 over 12 games. Over his career, the Springfield (OH) native has had 49 career receptions for 770 yards and two touchdowns.
With Brown-Stephens gone, the Gophers still have plenty of wide receiver depth with the likes of La'Meke Brockington, Corey Crooms Jr, Dylan Wright, Chris Autman-Bell, Daniel Jackson, and Elijah Spencer among others.
