Minnesota's Cody Lindenberg earns another preseason watch list nod

One day after earning a nod on the preseason watch list for the Chuck Bednarik Award, Minnesota fifth year linebacker Cody Lindenberg has been named to the Butkus Award watch list.

The Butkus Award is annually given to the nation's top linebacker by the Downtown Athletic Club of Orlando.

Lindenberg is coming off a 2023 season in which he played just four games but recorded 31 tackles, 3.5 tackles for loss, and one forced fumble in those four games. He missed the other nine games of the Gophers season due to injury.

Through his first four years with the Gophers, Lindenberg has 115 career tackles including 7.5 tackles for loss and one sack.

The Gophers led by Lindenberg defensively will begin their 2024 season on August 29 with a matchup at home against the North Carolina Tar Heels.
