Minnesota 2024 Recruiting Class Early Signing Period Central

The 2024 recruiting cycle officially has reached the beginning of the end. On Wednesday, Minnesota and schools around the country will begin signing their 2024 recruiting classes. Prospects will have the opportunity to sign this week, Wednesday through Friday.

Below, Gophers Nation takes you through the early signing period as Minnesota's 2024 commitments sign their letters of intent and officially become Gophers.

As of Wednesday morning, Gophers Nation expects the Gophers entire 2024 recruiting class to sign with the program. The Gophers hold 20 commitments in their 2024 recruiting class that ranks 42nd in the country according to the Rivals team recruiting rankings.

One Gopher commitment that we will be paying especially close attention to is four-star safety Koi Perich. The Esko native will be making his ultimate decision between staying committed to the Gophers or flipping his commitment to the Ohio State Buckeyes at the last minute and signing with the Buckeyes. As of Wednesday morning, signs point towards it being a good day for the Gophers but as we know, no recruitment is truly over in college football until the letter of intent is signed, sealed, and delivered.

Below we will provide updates and blurbs as Gopher commitments send in their letter of intent and are announced by the program.

- Other offers: Arkansas, Boston College, Duke, Indiana, James Madison, Maryland, Ole Miss, Missouri, North Carolina, Penn State, Pittsburgh, Stanford, Syracuse, Temple, Virginia Tech

- Rainer committed to the Gophers in April and despite a push from in-state Virginia Tech, the 5-foot-10, 180-pound safety remained committed to the Gophers. One of Rainer's favorite players in the NFL is former Gopher Antoine Winfield Jr and with the Gophers' development at the safety position, Rainer believes he could be the next great safety to wear the maroon and gold.

- Other offers: Boston College, Duke, Michigan State, Missouri, Penn State, Purdue, Syracuse, Temple, Vanderbilt, West Virginia

- The 6-foot-1 cornerback committed to Minnesota in June after an official visit. High-ceiling prospect with great athleticism. Has a chance to make an early impact for the Gophers in 2024, something that stood out to him in his recruitment and a big reason he chose to commit to the Gophers.

- Other offers: Rutgers, Temple, Vanderbilt, Virginia Tech

- The Pennsylvania tailback committed to the Gophers in July over Rutgers. A well-built prospect, Ijbboi shows consistent good vision and is elusive in the open field. An intriguing prospect who could play early but could make a big impact come his redshirt freshman season in 2025.

- Other offers: Boston College, UConn, Penn State, Syracuse, Temple, Wake Forest

- A highly athletic defensive tackle who projects to being a 3-tech defensive tackle at the next level, Hicks committed to the Gophers in June following an official visit. Hicks will need likely a year or two of development before seeing the field but there is plenty of untapped potential in the New York native.

- Other offers: Arkansas State, Central Michigan, Charlotte, Coastal Carolina, Eastern Michigan, FAU, Indiana, Iowa State, Pittsburgh, South Florida, Toledo

- Sims committed to the Gophers in March following an unofficial visit. Originally out of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Sims possesses great size at 6-foot-3 but also good speed with a reported 40-yard dash of 4.5. Shows to be a quality route runner who can earn separation both with his speed and route running abilities.

- Other offers: Iowa State, Kent State, North Dakota State

- A productive receiver for Mankato West, Smith committed to Minnesota in May choosing to stay at home turning down multiple offers including Iowa State. Has quality size at 6-foot-1 but also legitimate low 4.5 speed. High-upside potential but will likely need to be patient when it comes to seeing the field.

- Other offers: Colorado State, South Alabama, Tulsa, UAB, UNLV

- Despite a late push by Arkansas in hopes of keeping him at home, Lindsey has remained committed to the Gophers. The 6-foot-5 pro-style quarterback put together one of the best seasons of any quarterback in the country, leading to multiple honors including being named MaxPrep's Player of the Year in Arkansas. This season, Linsdey completed 69.6% of his passes for 3,916 yards and 52 touchdowns while throwing just four interceptions. The Fayetteville native has a chance to drastically outplay his ranking and be a game-changer at the quarterback position for the Gophers. While he likely won't start in 2024, he could be the Gophers' starter as early as 2025.

- An underrated commitment, Simpson has developed into one of the best tight ends in the Midwest and was a big recruiting win for the Gophers in June when he committed to them following an official visit. Very similar skill set to Julian Johnson, with very good size and shows that athleticism to go along with it. Shows good route running skills, body control, and awareness as well as a pass catcher. Another tight end that is very similar to Brevyn Spann-Ford though has a long ways to go to live up to such a comparison.

- Other offers: Bowling Green, Central Michigan, FAU, Purdue, Syracuse, West Virginia

- One of the earliest commitments in the Gophers recruiting class, Wright brings a nice combination of size and speed. He already weighs in at 6-foot-1 and 230 pounds but also possesses a reported 4.54 forty-yard dash. Since 1990 only 18 running backs have measured in at least 6-foot-1 and 230-pounds while recording a 40-yard dash of 4.54 or less at the NFL combine. Those names include Saquon Barkley, Chris Henry, Leonard Fournette, A.J Dillon, and Derrick Henry. He's an intriguing running back prospect to say the least and one who could potentially make an early impact.

- Other offers: Air Force, Army, Houston, Kansas State, Marshall, Navy, Tulsa, UTSA, Utah, Washington State, Wyoming

- The Texas native committed to the Gophers in July following an official visit. Will be a cornerback for the Gophers but also was a quality wide receiver in high school for Morton Ranch. Has good athleticism and speed to go along with his size with a reported 4.5 fort-yard dash.

- Other offers: Indiana, Iowa, Kansas State, Missouri, Purdue, Rutgers, Texas A&M

- The Illinois native committed to the Gophers in May and was recruited to be a tight end while some schools recruited him to be a defensive end. Johnson projects to be a receiving first tight end but at Minnesota, he'll of course have to work on his blocking. Has plenty of room to fill in his lengthy 6-foot-6 frame. A potential major mismatch opportunity for the Gophers in the receiving game could be a potential Brevyn Spann-Ford-type tight end.

- The 6-foot-5 Chanhassen native committed to the Gophers as a defensive end in June. Originally listed as a linebacker, the Gophers are planning on starting Macy on the edge, hoping he could use his size and athleticism to his advantage. Will need time in the weight room to add to his tall frame but is still quite a moldable project for Winston DeLattiboudere to work with.

- Other offers: Colorado State, Duke, Iowa State, Kansas, Kansas State, Miami (FL), Missouri, Nebraska

- The North Dakota native committed to the Gohpers in April and has remained committed to the Gophers ever since. Sunram plays both ways for Kindred but will come to Minnesota as a defensive tackle bringing a combination of great size at 6-foot-5 and 280-pound and good athleticism. Has a chance to develop into a dynamic defensive tackle for the Gophers under defensive line coach Winston DeLattiboudere.

- Other offers: Colorado State, Illinois, Iowa State, Kansas State, Oklahoma State, South Dakota, Southeast Missouri State, Texas Tech, Tulane

- An All-American Bowl participant, Carroll chose the Gophers over Illinois, Oklahoma State, and Texas Tech. Brings good size and athleticism to the Gophers offensive line and will fit very well into Brian Callahan's position group as a guard.

- Other offers: Florida State, Iowa, Kansas, Michigan, Nebraska, Ohio State, USC, Washington, Wisconsin

- At the time of his commitment, Perich was a high-end regional prospect within the Big Ten, the Gophers landed the Esko native over Wisconsin originally. However, a big fall has propelled Perich up recruiting rankings across the industry and up boards across the country. This fall, big names such as Florida State, Ohio State, and USC all got involved with the 6-foot-2 safety taking an official visit to Columbus earlier this month. Despite the strong push from the Buckeyes, the Gophers were able to keep the elite in-state prospect home.

- Other offers: Florida, Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Iowa State, Kansas, Kentucky, Miami (FL), Michigan State, Nebraska, Ohio State, Oklahoma, Penn State, Purdue, Tennessee, UCLA, USC, Wisconsin

- One of the biggest recruiting wins of the P.J. Fleck era, Roy committed to the Gophers in June over UCLA and Michigan State. Elite offensive guard prospect with the size to move to tackle as well. Roy is quick and dominant to the point of attack, has quick feet, and has very good athleticism for his size. He will be a centerpiece of the Gophers' offensive line in the near future.

STORY: MINNESOTA LANDS TALENTED QB TRANSFER FROM NEW HAMPSHIRE

Brosmer just finished up his junior season at New Hampshire where he completed 64% of his passes this season for 3,464 yards and 29 touchdowns with five interceptions. It was a strong follow-up to a good redshirt sophomore season for the Georgia native, who completed 63% of his passes for 3,154 yards and 27 touchdowns in 2022. He also has 263 career rushing yards and 10 rushing touchdowns on 191 career carries.

STORY: Fresno State QB transfer Logan Fife commits to Minnesota

During his four years with the Bulldogs, Fife played in 21 games over the last three seasons, completing 143-of-224 passing attempts for 1,585 yards, six touchdowns, and nine interceptions, a majority of those interceptions came in 2022 when he had two touchdown passes and six interceptions. He also has 64 career carries for 88 yards and four touchdowns.

While Fife will compete with Brosmer to be the Gophers' starting quarterback next season, he is projected to be the program's backup quarterback next fall.

STORY: Gophers pick up transfer portal tailback commitment from RB Sieh Bangura

The Maryland native comes to Minneapolis after a productive three seasons for the Ohio Bobcats, totaling 1,982 yards and 22 touchdowns across 412 carries. He also has 50 career receptions for 453 yards and three touchdowns. In 2022, Bangura posted a 1,000+ yard season, with 1,078 rushing yards and 13 touchdowns across 222 carries. He also had 27 receptions for 226 yards and two additional touchdowns that season.

STORY: MINNESOTA ADDS BUCKNELL TRANSFER CORNER

Robinson is coming off a season where he was named First-Team, All-Patriot League. In 31 career games, Robinson has recorded 154 tackles, 6.5 tackles for loss, five interceptions, 25 pass break-ups.

STORY: Gophers pick up commitment from TCU transfer DB Jaionte McMillan

In his four seasons, McMillan played in 32 games for TCU, recording 15 tackles including two tackles for loss, one interception, and four pass deflections. In 2022, McMillan played a pivotal role in TCU's run to the national championship game on special teams, appearing in 14 of 15 games, totaling 10 tackles in the game.

STORY: Lee a national signing day commitment for the Gophers

The 6-foot-5, 280-pound Alabama native played in 14 games for Central Michigan over the last two seasons, recording 16 tackles including five tackles for a loss, and two sacks. Prior to playing for the Chippewas, Lee spent time at Fort Scott Community College in Kansas. He attended McKenzie High School in McKenzie, Alabama. Lee will replace a previous commitment from FIU transferJordan Guerad. Last weekend, Guerad flipped his commitment from the Gophers to Louisville.
